Uroboros Festival 2023

Concept, AI imagery, animations, and visual system across digital & print, 2023

For the 2023 edition of Uroboros Festival, themed “Feral Bodies, Synthetic Rituals,” I developed the visual identity by bridging two seemingly opposing domains: posthuman design practices grounded in multispecies thinking, and cutting-edge generative AI experimentation. The festival sought to merge feral methodologies and object-oriented ontologies with synthetic media and artistic AI research — and I translated this conceptual convergence into an abstract visual language.

I used early image-to-video features in Runway ML to animate surreal, AI-generated images, purposefully avoiding text prompts to let visual logic and latent dynamics emerge organically. This technique revealed glimpses of strange, synthetic creatures — evolving, pulsing, and morphing in feral fluidity. These AI-generated motion sequences became the basis for the full visual ecosystem of the festival, layered into bold animations, printed posters, banners, stickers, and stage visuals.

The iconic rotating Uroboros logo (which I co-designed as co-founder of the festival in early 2020) appeared in sharp contrast, rendered in a toxic yellow against ever-shifting, semi-organic backdrops. The result: a synthetic ritual of colors and textures, evoking emergence, transformation, and other-than-human presences born through machine hallucination.
